Code of Conduct¶
Our commitment¶
The UCCO Foundation is committed to providing a welcoming, respectful, and productive environment for everyone who participates in the development of the UCCO standard — regardless of experience level, background, identity, or perspective.
Standards work requires honest technical disagreement. We value direct, constructive discourse. We do not value personal attacks, dismissiveness, or exclusion.
Expected behaviour¶
- Be respectful. Disagreement on technical matters is expected and healthy. Treat the person behind the argument with courtesy, even when you disagree with their position.
- Be constructive. Criticism of ideas is welcome; criticism of people is not. When pointing out a problem, suggest a path forward where you can.
- Be precise. Standards work depends on clarity. Say what you mean. Ask for clarification when something is ambiguous.
- Be patient. Contributors come from different backgrounds, time zones, and levels of familiarity with the specification. Not everyone has the same context you do.
- Be accountable. If you make a mistake, own it. If someone points out that your behaviour is harmful, listen and adjust.
Unacceptable behaviour¶
- Personal attacks, insults, or derogatory language
- Harassment in any form, public or private
- Publishing others' private information without explicit permission
- Sustained disruption of discussions or review processes
- Any conduct that a reasonable person would consider inappropriate in a professional setting
Scope¶
This code of conduct applies to all project spaces — GitHub issues, pull requests, discussions, wiki pages, and any other communication channels associated with the UCCO project. It also applies when an individual is representing the project in public spaces.
Enforcement¶
Instances of unacceptable behaviour may be reported to the project team at admin@ucco.foundation. All reports will be reviewed promptly and handled with discretion.
The project team may take any action they deem appropriate, including:
- A private conversation requesting a change in behaviour
- A public warning
- Temporary or permanent exclusion from project spaces
